Professor Shigeyuki Okazaki graduated from the School of Architecture at Kyoto University. After graduating from Kyoto University, he attended the Architecture and Urban Planning course in the Graduate School of Architecture at Washington University and completed the requirements for his Masterfs degree. He worked as a professor at Fukui University and at Kyoto University, meanwhile received his Ph.D. at Kyoto University. He is currently an emeritus professor at Kyoto University. His specialized field is architectural design theory and planning. He received the Prize of the Architectural Institute of Japan. He has conducted several architectural works, such as "Sundome Fukui", which was awarded many prizes. He also has presented wide-ranging research such as gSimulation Model for Pedestrian Movementh, gConstitution Method for Dwelling Space.h He serves as the chairperson at the special investigation committee on renovation of urban landscape in Kyoto.

Professor Yusei Tazaki joins the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Women's University after teaching at Osaka Aoyama University as an associated professor and in the Faculty of Art at Osaka Seikei University as a professor. After graduating from Kyoto University, he received his Master's degree and Ph.D. at Kyoto University. He specializes in theory of architecture, architectural history and design. He has explored theory of architecture and theory of place / space, with a clue of “dwelling”, through case studies on such as traditional houses of agricultural people in East Africa, mental health facilities and elderly care facilities. He worked on the design and planning of gMaiduru City Funeral Hallh, gKyoto Technology Center Sekisui Chemicalh etc. and also mental health facilities including gHyogo Prefectural Kofu Hospitalh, gKouai Hospitalh.

Professor Shushi Sugiura graduated from the Department of Architecture at Kyoto University and received his Masterfs degree at Kyoto University. He joins the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Womenfs University after working for Takenaka Corporation as a head of the facility design section and a head of the thermal storage engineering section, and for Sunwell Japan as a director general. His specializes in architectural environmental design and facility design. He was engaged in the facility design of gUmeda Center Buildingh, gCrystal Towerh, gHerbis Osakah, etc. He has conducted research on energy saving for office buildings and houses in Japan, where energy resource is not abundant.

Professor Kazuhiko Yanagisawa joins the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Womenfs University after working at Kyoto University as a research associate and Chiba Institute of Technology as an associate professor. After graduating from the Faculty of Science at Kyoto University, he attended the School of Architectural Engineering at Kyoto University and received his Masterfs degree and Ph.D. at Kyoto University. He has conducted research on design theory related to developmental, pathological and cultural characteristics of spatial schema, and architectural programming and design methods centering on actual usage of architecture, and moreover applied such research outcome to design practice.

Associate professor Fumie Ooi graduated from the Department of Architecture at Fukui University and completed the requirements for her Masterfs degree at the Graduate School of Engineering at Fukui University. She worked for Kisho Kurokawa Architect & Associates taking charge of planning, basic and detailed designs, and site supervision in many projects such as city hall, office building, and museum etc. Design works that she had been engaged in are gJapanese Embassy in Greeceh, gJapanese Nursing Association Headquartersh, gAsahikawa National Government Buildingh, gFukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museumh, which was awarded the Excellence Award of the Public Building Association, etc.

Associate Professor Noritoshi Sugiura attended the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University and received his Ph.D. at Kyoto University after graduating from the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering at Fukui University. His specialties are architectural design and theory. He has researched on the design process, presenting academic papers such as gA method of description of spatial composition process and a method of extracting rules by Inductive Logic Programming.h He is a member of the design science subcommittee at the Architectural Institute of Japan. He was engaged in the renovation of main hall and newly-construction of the hall for disciples and Kuri, which was a kitchen and living room, in gShinsuji Templeh, and gHealth and Science Building of Mukogawa Women's Universityh and so on.

Associate Professor Hiroyuki Tagawa joins the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Womenfs University after working for Hyogo Earthquake Engineering Research Center in National Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, General Building Research Corporation of Japan, and Tokyo Institute of Technology. After graduating from Kyoto University with his Bachelorfs degree in Architectural Engineering, he attended the University of Washington, Seattle, and received his Masterfs degree and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has conducted wide-ranging experimental and analytical research related to structural engineering including gcontinuous column effects from the perspective of dynamic stabilityh and gevaluation of seismic reliability of Japanese and U.S.-type moment-resisting frame structuresh. His recent research focuses on the development of simulation techniques and methods to combine architectural design and structural engineering.

Associate Professor Toshitomo Suzuki graduated from the School of Architectural Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University. He received his Masterfs degree and Ph.D. at Kyoto University. His specialized fields are architectural planning and design. He has explored more secure, functional, humane, and satisfied architectural and urban images through his research on the relations between human behavior and architectural and urban spaces, such as gexperimental study on wayfinding behavior involving information exchange in virtual reality space for multi-usersh and ginvestigation on attention action in wayfinding using eye-camerash.

Lecturer Tomoko Uno joins the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Womenfs University after working for the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo as a research fellow, and the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry as a fellow. After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering and Design of Kyoto Institute of Technology, she attended the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kyoto University and received her Masterfs degree and Ph.D. at Kyoto University. Her main research topics are thermal environment in residential buildings and passive designs under hot and humid climate and conservation of cultural heritage and properties.

Lecturer Akira Tanaka graduated from the Department of Architecture and Building Engineering at Shibaura Institute of Technology in 1999 and completed the requirements for his Masterfs degree at the Graduate School of Engineering at Shibaura Institute of Technology in 2001. After working at Hiromi Fujii Architects Studio, he entered the Department of Architecture and Architectural Engineering at Kyoto University and received his Ph.D. in 2008. His research areas are architectural design, theory, and history. Currently, he has conducted research on the composition of the Shugakuin Imperial Villa through the analysis of Emperors ePlayingf, and the landscape of the Wang River Villa of Wang Wei, etc.

Lecturer Hideaki Tembata graduated from the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate school of Engineering at Kyoto University. His specialties are architectural theory and design. During working at the administrative section of Mukogawa Womenfs University, he was engaged in the designs of educational and research facilities including gInterdisciplinary Research Center at Mukogawa Women's Universityh, gConnecting Corridor of Mukogawa Womenfs University Junior and Senior High schoolh and also engaged in the renewal planning of gKoshien Hallh, the school building of the Department of Architecture. He has conducted research on ideal images of the relation between human being and scenery, such as gSpace Constitution of Enclosure based on Feng-Shui Theoryh.

After graduating from the Department of Architecture, she completed the requirements for her Ph.D. in 2015. Her specialty is architectural design. She has been engaged in the design of gNaruo Stationh, gBamiyan Museumh and so on, at the Architecture and Urban Design Studio, Mukogawa Womenfs University. She studies on the perspective on nature described in Quran, which is the scripture of Islam.
