The Journal of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Engineering, No.546, 2001.8

Abstract:
By the "landscape montage technique", 480 landscape pictures were sketched by subjects from kindergarten children through university students. Ten types of disposition of river with relation to a frame as a fence in order of the development; the river along the bottom frame; between left and right frames; between top and bottom; at the bottom corner; between top and
side; between bottom and side; the tapering river; etc, and characteristics of landscape spatial composition according to the types were clarified.

SUMMARIES OF TECHNICAL PAPERS OF ANNUAL MEETING ARCHITECTURAL INSTITUTE OF JAPAN, pp.787-788, 1999

Abstract:
As a part of our research for the spatial schema, we have conducted Architectural Space Montage Technique, drawing, and Landscape Montage Technique, with children in the same kindergarten. The purpose of this paper is to consider the characteristics of expressional styles and spatial organization in their works of Landscape Montage Technique. The former can be grouped into 3 stages: (1) pre-systematization, (2) beginning of systematization, and (3) systematization. And the latter can be grouped into 2 stages: (1) pre-systematization, and (2) systematization.

The Stages from Primordialism to Beginning of Systematization

Publication/Publisher:
SUMMARIES OF TECHNICAL PAPERS OF ANNUAL MEETING ARCHITECTURAL INSTITUTE OF JAPAN, pp.789-790, 1999

Abstract:
The works of Landscape Montage Technique on children in the kindergarten can be grouped into 4 stages. This paper is concerned with the first half: (1) primordialism, and (2) beginning of systematization. In the stage of primordialism, expressional style is not systematized yet. Mainly scribble and circles are used.ハ Spatial organization is also not systematized, and there are no relations between drawing elements. In the stage of beginning of systematization, expressional style begins systematizing, and main drawing elements are quadrilaterals and triangles. Spatial organization is the same as the earlier stage.

The Stages from Patial Systematization to Whole Systematization

On "The Landscape Montage Technique" of Kindergarten Children,ハ Part 3

Publication/Publisher:
SUMMARIES OF TECHNICAL PAPERS OF ANNUAL MEETING ARCHITECTURAL INSTITUTE OF JAPAN, pp.791-792, 1999

Abstract:
The works of Landscape Montage Technique on kindergarten children can be grouped into 4 stages. In this paper we deal with the second half: (3) partial systematization, and (4) whole systematization. In the stage of partial systematization, both expressional style and spatial organization are systematized. Regarding expressional style, base lines are not drawn yet. And spatial organization consists of only large landscape elements, or middle and small ones. In the stage of whole systematization, base lines are drawn, and large, middle and small landscape elements are organized.

SUMMARIES OF TECHNICAL PAPERS OF ANNUAL MEETING ARCHITECTURAL INSTITUTE OF JAPAN, pp.1129-1130, 2000

Abstract:
For the purpose of getting a solution to schema,we have conducted Architectural Space Montage Technique and drawing. This time we conduct Landscape Montage Technique with School Children, and consider the river types and the whole characteristics in their works of Landscape Montage Technique. This paper deals with Enumeration and Horizontal River.Enumeration of the items has no relation among them.As a horizontal river on the bottom, there are sectional expression, and biginnings of a layer structure and expression of depth. As a horizontal river apart a frame,a layer structure become clear.

Abstract:
On this research, we consider river types and whole characteristics in works of children in the same primary school of the Landscape Montage Thechnique. This paper is concerned with them. The composition can be grouped into 9:(1)a river connecting the left side with the right side,(2)a corner river ,(3)a interupted river,(4)a vertical river,(5)a river connecting the top with the bottom,(6)a river connecting the top with the side,(7)a river connecting the bottom with the side,(8)a tapering river connecting the bottom with the side,and(9)a river flowing from a mountain.

Abstract:
By the "landscape montage technique",1041 landscape pictures were sketched by subjects from kindergerten children through university students. Fifteen types of disposition of river with relation to a frame as a fence in order of the development were found. Characteristics of landscapes spatial composition according to these fifteen types were clarified, especially the following six types of the tapering river: between left and right frames; between top and bottom; between top and side; between bottom and side; between the horizon and side; between the horizon and bottom.

Abstract:
This study examined the characteristics of landscape spatial composition in 167 river landscape pictures sketched by HIROSHIGE, by comparison with those in 1041 landscape pictures from kindergarten children through university students sketched by the "landscape montage technique". In landscape pictures sketched by HIROSHIGE, ten types of dispositions of river with relation to a frame ; the river along the top frame; along the bottom frame; between left and right frames; at the bottom corner; between bottom and side; the tapering river between the horizon and bottom; etc, and the characteristics of landscape spatial composition according to these types were clarified.
