Scope & Topics


The iaSU2016 JAPAN international conference applies blind review. We accept applications of studies that deal with life, technology, and culture centered on architecture in the countries along the Silk Road, which stretches from Europe to Japan, and illuminate characteristics of a specific country or a region, or characteristics of cross-cultural interaction. These studies are expected to provide researchers, designers, and engineers around the world with the latest discoveries concerning life, technology, and culture and to contribute to the progress of studies.

Specific examples of acceptable topics:

1. Cross-cultural interaction along the Silk Road

    Topics related to cross-cultural interaction along the Silk Road comparing life, technology, and culture centered on architecture.

2. Regional characteristics and individuality of living space

    Topics related to the characteristics of living space affected and nurtured by local climate, history, and culture in the Silk Road region.

3. Modernization, globalization and urbanization

    Topics related to rapidly progressing modernization in life, technology, and culture, globalization and urbanization, and various issues arising from them.

4. Science and technology that underpin culture

    Topics related to approaches to a certain aspect of culture or related to dealing with various cultural issues using various technologies in the domains of natural science, mathematical science, engineering, etc.

5. Sustainability and global environment

    Topics related to approaches to issues of life, technology, and culture from the viewpoint of sustainability and the global environment.

6. Religion and art

    Topics related to approaches to the arts from the aspects of beauty, history, or religion, or related to religious spaces.

7. Case studies on cultural formation

    Case studies on the formation of local culture or renaissance of the Silk Road as a path for cultural exchange.
