Keynote Speakers


Dr. Daishun Ueyama

Professor emeritus and the former president of Ryukoku University. Dr. of Letters.
He was born in 1934 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the School of Letters and Graduate School of Letters at Ryukoku University. He was a lecturer and associate professor of Ryukoku University Junior College, and associate professor, professor and president of Ryukoku University.
His research interests are manuscripts discovered in Dunhuang, and achievements and collections of Otani Expedition. His main publications are "Study of Buddhism at Dunhuang," "Reading Buddhism" and so on.

Dr. Ahmet Eyuce

Professor and dean of Faculty of Architecture and Design of Bahce?ehir University.
Graduated from METU Department of Architecture in 1973 and started to work at Ege University. He completed his master's degree in 1976 and PhD in 1979 in EU. He conducted his researches in TU Karlsruhe Institute Fur Industrielle Bauproduktion with the scholarship of 1978 D.A.A.D. He worked as an instructor at different universities and has been the dean of Faculty of Architecture and Design of Bahce?ehir University since 2006.
His recent publications are "Design Education for Adaptive Reuse" and "Learning From Vernacular: Sustainable Planning & Design".



Invited Speakers


Dr. Akira Wada

Professor emeritus at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Dr. of Engineering of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
He graduated from the department of architecture and building engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology at 1968 and the master course at 1970. He became a member of structural engineering division of Nikken Sekkei Ltd. He returned to Tokyo Institute of Technology as an associate professor, 1982. He was promoted to a professor at structural engineering research center of same Institute in 1989. Now, he is president of Architectural Institute of Japan and a member of the Science Council of Japan.
His research interests are structural engineering of architectures and buildings, seismic design, seismic isolated structures, damage-controlled design and computer simulation of structures.

Dr. Koji Miyazaki

Professor emeritus, Kyoto University. Dr. of Engineering of Osaka University.
Graduated from Department of Architectural Design, Kyoto Institute of Technology at 1963. Main academic appointments are an associate professor at Department of Graphic Science, Kobe University (1972~1988), a professor at Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University (~2004), a professor at Department of Technology, Teikyo-Heisei University (~2011).
Main areas of research are architectural morphology, higher-dimensional graphics, and history of morphology. Main publications are "Polyhedra and Architectures", "An Adventure in Multi-dimensional Space", "Encyclopedia of Architectural Forms", "Higher-dimensional Graphic Science", "Encyclopedia of Traditional Shapes in Japan".

Dr. Masaaki Sugiyama

Professor of the Graduate School of Letters of Kyoto University. Dr. of Letters.
He was born in 1952 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the School of Letters and Graduate School of Letters of Kyoto University. He was a research associate at Institute for Research in Humanities at Kyoto University, lecturer and associate professor of Kyoto Women's University, and associate professor of Kyoto University.
His research interests are Eurasian histories in the Mongolian era. His main publications are "The World History as Viewed by Nomads" and "Paradoxical Eurasian History."
